Join C+C and Slant’d For An Online Conversation on Asian+Black Solidarity

In an online forum last year, Pulitzer-prize winning Times journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones noted that historically, “there were two groups that white Americans considered could not be assimilated into the larger body politic: Asian-Americans and Black Americans.” In the past year, the high-profile murders of Black people in the hands of police and rise in anti-Asian hate crimes have opened up space for both communities to find common ground. Yet, despite shared interests in dismantling white supremacy, both communities have long been pitted against each other and calls for solidarity are sometimes drowned out by narratives that aim to divide further.

On Monday March 1 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, Chaos+Comrades and Slant’d will co-host a panel about what Black and Asian solidarity can look like in a post-pandemic world. The panel will consist of Black and Asian activists, journalists and artists who will discuss how our communities can overcome the hurdles that have divided us and turn the page onto a new chapter that centers unity and allyship.
