The last candidates of color dropped out of the Democratic Race

Andrew Yang and Deval Patrick ended their presidential campaigns last Tuesday after they trailed behind other candidates at the New Hampshire primary.

“I am not someone who wants to accept donations and support in a race that we will not win,” Yang told his supporters.

Considered a longshot from the beginning, Yang outlasted far likelier contenders including Kamala Harris and Beto O’Rourke. He ran on a progressive platform that addressed the working class’ concerns around automation and garnered a loyal fanbase that dubbed themselves the “Yang Gang.” Despite having a substantial donor base, Yang polled at 1 percent in Iowa the week before he dropped out.
