Top New Songs and Albums to Play on Repeat

Sam Smith, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland, and… Usher?! As our lives continue to majorly suck, the music plays on. Here are the top songs and covers you should listen to this weekend.

Sam Smith and Demi Lovato – I’m Ready

Grammy-award winning gender fluid sensation Sam Smith teamed up with Demi Lovato for a collaboration called I’m Ready, a bop that is all about being prepared for love. It’s also the latest single from Smith, who pushed their album back from May 1st because, well, pandemic. Initially titled To Die For, Smith decided to rework the album and rename the set to properly reflect the times. The project previously featured the singles Dancing With A Stranger, How Do You Sleep? and To Die For.

The accompanying music video features Trans and gender non-conforming people partaking in Olympic-like competitions.

Kelly Rowland – Coffee

Kelly Rowland whets our appetite with her new single, Coffee, and a music video that celebrates black girls with a cast of dark-skinned women. The new music from Kelly arrived seven years since her last album, Talk A Good Game.
“To me, COFFEE is about embracing your individuality, sexuality, or imperfections. Not comparing yourself to others,” the singer wrote on her Youtube channel. “We need to celebrate ourselves more often — with this song, I want you to have yourself in mind. I want to remind women all over to reignite their magic!”

Rina Sawayama’s entire new album, ‘SAWAYAMA’

The British pop legend’s first full album, SAWAYAMA is filled with references to the artist’s Japanese heritage as well as her queerness. It has an eclectic mix of genres including, amazingly, heavy metal.
