Crayola is committed to ensuring every child around the world feels included with its new line of skin-tone crayons, Colors of the World.

Thanks to Crayola, more children around the world will be able to color with a crayon that matches their skin tone. The company announced an upcoming new line “Colors of the World”, which will include 24 new skin tone crayons that will include a spectrum of skin shades ranging from “extra light almond” to “deepest almond.”

The new collaboration was announced as a part of Crayola’s continued effort to increase diversity and inclusion in partnership with Victor Casale, the CEO of MOB Beauty. The collaboration focuses on creating a line of colors that sampled more than 40 skin tones from around the world.

“I have spent my life trying to create truly global shade palettes because I know what it’s like to be with a person who has finally found their exact match. They feel included and recognized, and I am hoping every child who uses these crayons and finds their shade will have that feeling,” said Casale. “Growing up, I remember mixing the pink and dark brown crayons to try and make my shade, so I was thrilled when Crayola asked for my help to create the Colors of the World crayons.”

Crayola’s Research and Development team spent more than 8 months working with Casale to craft crayons that authentically reflected the color spectrum of human skin tones.

Each crayon pack features side panels with color reference charts while each individual crayon is wrapped in a gradient skin tone label with color names in English, Spanish and French. Individual color names are based on realistic colors to help children identify their perfect match.

The 32-count crayon pack will be released exclusively through Walmart and is now available for pre-order. According to a press release, the crayon set is comprised of 24 new skin tone colors, four hair colors, and four eye colors.

For the 24-count pack, consumers can submit their e-mail addresses to be notified of the product’s release.

The new line is expected to hit shelves in July.
