Oluwatoyin Salau, or ‘Toyin’, is a Black Lives Matter activist whose body was found in Florida over the weekend after she went missing on June 6. Salau’s body was found alongside that of a 75-year-old woman, Victoria Sims, and their deaths were ruled a double homicide by Tallahassee police.
The 19-year-old spoke out about her sexual assault on social media the day she went missing.
Anyways I was molested in Tallahassee, Florida by a black man this morning at 5:30 on Richview and Park Ave. The man offered to give me a ride to find someplace to sleep and recollect my belongings from a church I refuged to a couple days back to escape unjust living conditions.

Salau was known for being a staunch advocate for Black women and Black trans people during Black Lives Matter protests. She often recited the name of Tony McDade during protests, a Black trans man who was shot and killed by an officer at the Tallahassee Police Department.
