Iyanna Dior is a Black trans woman who was brutally beaten by a crowd of men in Minneapolis on June 1. According to reports, the crowd that Iyanna Dior was with consisted mostly of about 30 men who singled her out during protests.

Iyanna said on a Facebook post that she is doing ok and has some bruises but needs “time to process everything.”
The brutal attack against her has prompted conversations around Black trans lives, which are sometimes overlooked in the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Last year, the Human Rights Campaign declared the murder of Black trans woman nationwide an epidemic. Black trans people who have been murdered this year include Nina Pop and Tony McDade, among others.
