Queer costumes don't have to be difficult.

If you’re a member of the LGBTQ community and have a stable internet connection, the last couple of weeks have probably been exhausting. So much so that Halloween, otherwise known as LGBT Christmas, probably snuck up on you by surprise. You’re probably just now learning that even while social social distancing, all your friends are planning on dressing up be it for a digital celebration or simply for their Instagram feed. You probably want to participate in this celebration but are struggling to come up with ideas now that all the costumes available online are basic at best and its express shipping would contribute to growing environmental and humanitarian concerns. Well do not worry, we are here to provide some last-minute LGBTQ Halloween costumes ideas that are bound to be remembered even as the world around us burns.

Tiffany Trump Hosting Trump Pride 2020

The youngest of the Trump daughters and alleged “best friend of gays” Tiffany Trump hosting a dumpster fire Pride event for her father’s campaign was about as much of a disaster as you’d imagine. For this Halloween costume, the jokes write themselves: the playing of the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling”, the butchering of the LGBTQIA+ acronym, that out of nowhere transition to talking about the AIDS epidemic- the list goes on. Getting the look without handing your money to another billionaire is simple. Simply visit your local Halloween shop, thrift store and/or dollar store to purchase: a roasty-toasty blonde wig, a variation of a short pink dress and the most simple jewelry you can find. For the finishing touches, put on as much black eyeshadow as possible, do your worst Miley Cyrus impersonation and make sure to pander all night long.

The Peach From Ratched

I believe it was former child star Lindsey Lohan who said, “Halloween is the one night a year when a they/them can dress like a total slut and no other they/thems can say anything about it”… or something like that. If you’re looking for an excuse to show off your peaches judgement free, we’ve got you covered. As the most viewed 2020 debut, the Netflix original “Ratched” is filled with memorable and quote-worthy moments, the peach scene being one of them. This Halloween moment is simple. Just grab your favorite jock-strap or other peach showing lingerie and do as nurse Ratchet says: “put your name on a peach.”

Roxxxy Andrews’ Wig Reveal

A timeless classic. A moment that warped time as we know it. Although the reality TV series “Rupaul’s Drag Race” has received its share of criticism over the last years, this early moment on the show cemented itself on annals of queer history. Leading to the first double-shantay on the show and inspiring countless reinterpretations, you can’t go wrong by referencing the original wig reveal of Ms. Thick N Juicy. To get the basics down, simply purchase two wigs, tape one of them down and gag everyone around you by taking off the top one. If you really want to get particular, you can top the look off by adding a black lace-y top, crying your makeup off and being very mean.

Emily In (Insert City Here)

Love it or hate it, “Emily in Paris” is one of the year’s biggest hits. But let’s be honest, there’s plenty to hate in a show about an inexplicably wealthy, modely-looking, successful 20-year-old becoming a social media influencer by chronicling her time abroad through a hashtag. However, you can use the show’s format for a full-day social media costume. Simply slap on a brown wig and the most annoying clothes you can possibly find and chronicle every insignificant thing you do by posting it on your Instagram story under the #EmilyIn(insert the city you are quarantined in here).

That Pillow From Lady Gaga’s “911” Music Video

Lady Gaga decided to give her fans everything they’d been waiting for this year, and her “911” music video music video is no exception. Filled with artistic references and jaw-dropping costumes, the video has surpassed 30 million views on Youtube and has countless opportunities for beautiful, carefully crafted costumes. But you waited until the last minute, so a fun alternative is to take the meme-worthy “pillow guy” and run with it. The costume is simple, simply kneel on top of your most comfortable pillow and dip your head into and out of it repeatedly. When you get tired, put your head down and just get some sleep. Get some rest, it’s been a long year.
