Basketball Wives star and fashion designer Draya Michele got into hot water with Megan Thee Stallion on Wednesday after the podcast Weed and Wine released its interview with Michele. In the episode, the reality TV star joked about the Houston rapper, who was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez. Although Megan is expected to make a full recovery, she expressed that she was shaken and felt “incredibly grateful to be alive.”
“I predict that they had some sort of Bobby and Whitney love that, you know, drove them down this snapped-esque type of road,” Michele said in the podcast. She was comparing Megan’s situation to the abusive relationship that the late singer had with musician Bobby Brown before they divorced in 2006.
“And I’m here for it,” she continued. “I like that. I want you to like me so much that you shoot me in the foot too.”

Many on social media pointed out that Michele’s comments were insensitive and made fun of domestic violence.
@drayamichele this is actually really gross and disappointing that you spoke on this topic like it’s some kind of “cute and desirable” love story .. especially as a woman. extremely thoughtless and inconsiderate. do better.

Soon after, Michele posted her apology on Twitter.
“I truly don’t glorify domestic violence,” she wrote.
I truly don’t glorify domestic violence… I was trying to say just love me deeply. But while trying to be funny, I offended many, including meg. And I’m sorry.
