Donald Trump Jr.’s teary eyes lead some to speculate that he was on cocaine.

Last night’s Republican National Convention (RNC) came with some interesting celebrity appearances, impassioned speeches and heaps of material for new memes. The convention featured many bizarre moments, which led to some unusual trending topics on social media. Here are some of the most memorable moments from the RNC.

1. Kimberly Guilfoyle gave an impassioned speech to no crowd and called California “a land of heroin needles in parks”

Once upon a time, Kimberly Guilfoyle was a host on Fox News’ The Five but is now a fundraising official for Donald Trump’s campaign and Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend. Last night, she gave a roaring speech bashing Democrats and warned of the dangers of a so-called “socialist” Biden-Harris presidency. She also called California “a land of discarded heroin needles in parks, riots in streets and blackouts in homes.” She never spoke below a shout and was extremely animated, using the physicality of someone giving a speech at a rally as opposed to an empty room. Many took note of this, and she became the butt of many jokes surrounding the RNC.

2. The infamous couple who pulled their guns at BLM protestors in June gave an eerie ‘law and order’ message

Earlier this summer, Mark and Patty McCloskey, a St. Louis couple, brandished their weapons at a group of peaceful protesters who were walking near their house. The couple was asked to speak at the Republican National Convention, and in their message to the public was that they had every right to defend their home and that the Democrats were trying to allow criminals to infiltrate quiet and otherwise safe neighborhoods. The couple was charged with unlawful use of a weapon while none of the protesters were charged with any crimes, a fact that they used as proof that the country no longer cared to protect “honest citizens.” Their appearance at the convention was uncomfortable for some and their speech gave big dystopian movie vibes (yes, I’m talking about The Purge).

3. Vernon Jones, a Black Democrat, endorsed Donald Trump

Vernon Jones, who is a Black Democrat from Georgia, announced at the RNC that he was endorsing Trump for president. He claimed that the Democrats were trying to pander to Black voters and that they want to keep Black people on the “mental plantation” they have kept them on for decades. It’s not easy to say how useful Jones’ endorsement is as only 8 percent of Black voters voted for Trump in 2016, but it isn’t a good look for the Democratic party for one of their representatives to be endorsing Trump. Some labeled Jones as an “Uncle Tom,” and said that, ironically, he was being used as a way to pander to Black voters and encourage them to vote for Trump in November.

4. A pro-athlete sang Trump’s praises

A former NFL player, Herschel Walker, also endorsed Donald Trump for president. Herschel claimed that as a Black man who grew up in the deep South, he knew what racism was like. Hershel has been friends with Trump for almost 40 years and was hurt that people would call Trump a racist. He claimed that Trump cared about social justice and he also took shots at athletes who protested the flag and openly criticized the lack of action taken by the United States government to fight racial inequality.

5. Whatever was going on with Donald Trump Jr.’s eyes

Donald Trump Jr. also gave a speech in support of his father at the RNC. He gave an impassioned speech about Trump’s adequate handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and how he acted quickly to slow the spread. In reality, of course, the president downplayed the virus from its inception and initially discouraged social distancing and masks. Donald Trump Jr. also claimed that electing Biden would incite chaos within the United States.

Many were quick to point out multiple falsehoods in his speech and almost crazed demeanor, and suggested that Trump Jr. might have been under the influence of cocaine during his speech.
