The rapper went on Instagram Live to clarify things.

Megan Thee Stallion went on Instagram Live yesterday to address her involvement in a recent shooting.

On July 12, the Texas rapper was reportedly shot during an incident at a party in Hollywood Hills. Fellow artist Tory Lanez was allegedly involved in the shooting and was arrested under suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon. Days later, Megan confirmed in an Instagram post that she was shot on both feet by someone who “intended to cause harm.” She said that she was not arrested and was driven to the hospital by the police, where she underwent surgery.

Due to the lack of official reports and general ambiguity of the incident, many made jokes about the shooting online. Rapper 50 Cent shared a meme making fun of the incident on his social media.

Basketball Wives personality Draya Michele also joked about the shooting during an interview, and said that she wanted someone to, “like me so much you shoot me in the foot.”

In her now-deleted Instagram Live post, Megan Thee Stallion said that she was grateful for the positive messages that she’d received from her friends and fans, and that she appreciated the love despite the rumors about her. She was teary-eyed and vulnerable, revealing that she’s tried to surround herself with people that made her happy after the recent passing of her mother.

The Texas rapper also revealed that the bullets didn’t hit any bones or tendons, and that she was recovering well. Megan described the incident as the “worst experience of my life,” and said that she did nothing to deserve getting shot.

Megan expressed her frustration at online responses to the incident, claiming that there’s nothing funny about getting shot and “it’s nothing to joke about.” She disapproved of the “grown-ass men” getting on the internet to make fun of what happened and generally comment on something that wasn’t their business, likely in reference to 50 Cent.

While Tory Lanez was reportedly a part of the incident and some sources even claimed that he was the one who shot Megan, she did not mention him during the Instagram Live stream, nor did she confirm or deny his involvement. However, Megan did clarify that her delayed response to the experience was not her trying to protect anyone, but was a result of her attempts to grapple with the experience.

Megan did end the livestream on a positive note, saying  that she was  “alive and well” and appreciated all the messages she’s received in support of her. She said she’s ready to get back to work with her own “hot girl shit,” and that this experience wouldn’t  stop her from being a positive person.

Many came out in support of the rapper, including 50 Cent who claimed he didn’t know the incident was real and apologized for making light of the situation. Draya Michele also apologized though there have been rumors that her comments cost her an endorsement deal with Rihanna’s lingerie line Savage x Fenty. The company unfollowed Michele on social media, and many are speculating that Rihanna’s past experience with domestic violence led to the broken partnership.
