Lambs, rejoice, Mariah Carey is releasing new music!

On Tuesday night, the singer-songwriter announced on Twitter that she was going to release a new album, “The Rarities”.

“This one is for you, my fans.” Carey tweeted. “It’s to celebrate us and to thank you for years of pure love and support. I am so grateful to you.”

The album is schedule for release on October 2 and will feature previously unreleased songs spanning the singer’s 30-year music career.

Carey has been celebrating the 30th anniversary of her music debut by releasing unreleased songs and videos, remixes, and EPs every Friday. Fans have long campaigned for the release of Carey’s unreleased catalog and the new album seems to be the answer to their pleas.

The announcement followed the upcoming release of the singer’s memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which is scheduled for release on September 29th.

While she was working on her book, Carey talked about going through her vault of unreleased music to rework unfinished songs for the upcoming album. She described both projects as overlapping, which will make them great companions.

The first single, “Save The Day” ft. Lauryn Hill is expected to be released this Friday. The singer told Good Morning America, that the new single will support a charitable cause and was produced by Jermaine Dupri.
