“I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self”

— Elliot Page

Page has earned nominations for his very first role as Juno in a movie by the same name, which earned great critical acclaim. They also went on to star in movies such as X-Men: Days of Future Past and have most recently appeared in Netflix’s TV series The Umbrella Academy as Vanya Hargreeves. The show has been incredibly successful and reintroduced Elliot to younger audiences who might not know him from their early work.

But in certain circles, the Canadian native needs no introduction. Before coming out as trans, Elliot Page identified as a lesbian, and came out in a speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s “Time to Thrive” conference in 2014. Two years later, they alleged that Brett Ratner, the director of X-Men: The Last Stand had outed him before he’d even come out to himself. Page has since become a vocal LGBT rights advocate and co-hosted a Vice show called Gaycation that explores queer cultures across the globe.
